One Cheer for Malcolm Hurlston
Interesting article in The Guardian yesterday that quotes Malcolm Hurlston from
CCCS slating
Northern Rock for their bad consumer behavior. Dude, nice of you to finally
speak up about the injustice of Northern Rock and how they don’t play nice with
consumers.
You said, "Northern Rock is one of the least charitable on the high street. It says borrowers are treated fairly, but that simply doesn't fit with our experience." My question is, why did you wait until after the bank tanked before having a clear voice to defend consumers on this? I've been ranting about the unfair consumer treatment by Northern Rock for quite some time now. You can see a couple of those articles in the links at the bottom.
You’re the media darling and you have a pulpit, why so silent? Shout about consumer injustice.
Malcolm, can you please stand up and talk loudly about the clear and flagrant abuses of the British Banking Code by banks or how about the clear and present danger of unlawful bank charges and payment protection insurance rip-offs by banks. The public has not heard a peep out of you about these major consumer issues that impact their pockets.
Hopefully CCCS is actively reclaiming unlawful bank charges for all the consumers it serves? After all the OFT has clearly stated that these are unlawful and if CCCS helped people to get these charges refunded, many of the people would have a lot of their debt eliminated.
While the court case on this is ongoing, people with financial problems and issues are still permitted to get their unlawful charges back. So I suggest that if you are a CCCS client, please call them and ask for their help in reclaiming your unlawful bank charges your creditors took from you. Since they are a charity, they should be happy to actively help you get the money back that was taken unfairly from you by the banks.
One Cheer for HSBC
Recently my wife lost her purse when we were in Rome. So we called the credit card companies to let them know the cards were lost. Kudos are due HSBC for giving us each different numbers so my card did not get cancelled. All the other banks had the same number on both cards and so my cards are cancelled while we await replacements.
Nice move HSBC. Good thinking. Thanks!
Ah to hell with it, I’ll give you two cheers for that.
