I have had a few calls over the past few months where the person phoning clearly needs to go bankrupt, and they know it as well.
Most of those calls are people really just looking to me for confirmation or validation that their decision is the correct one.

Once it is determined that bankruptcy is the best solution for them, I ask them now that they have made the decision to go bankrupt, when do they believe they will file the forms and actually go bankrupt?
Now some people want to still give it more thought, and that is understandable as bankruptcy should not be entered into lightly; the thing that surprised me was how many said that either they wanted to think about it more over their holiday that is coming up, or those that said they will after they return from holiday.
Initially, I thought that was odd, not the wait, the fact they had a holiday planned. Some acknowledged they had planned it a few months ago and had paid for it them as well.
They had to have known they were looking at being insolvent even at that time.
Now I know holidays are important and we all earn them; I wonder how the Official Receivers handle this if they see a charge or expense for a holiday just prior to going bankrupt?
I am asking as I really do not have the answer to that one.
Far be it from me to deny someone their holiday, it just struck me as odd in the timing of things.
A couple of people even asked me how the holiday would be viewed as it was an expensive one planned months ago; and again I am unsure, but could not imagine it just being overlooked, but who knows.
I am not saying not to take a holiday, however if you are experiencing financial difficulties, you usually know this for a period of time; so to make a large purchase, take a holiday, etc, just prior to going bankrupt, could be seen as a misuse of credit.
Something just to be aware of.
