Money Issues Counseling is a combination of hands-on training about the mechanics of personal finances along with the emotional issues that drive the underlying money spending that can get us into trouble. You and your Money Issues Counselor will set up a personalised spending plan based on your specific spending habits, on your real spending, not some made up numbers. This will help you to make sure that your life fits within your income. We will explore your goals, financial and otherwise, and help you achieve them.
At the same time you and your counsellor will help to uncover the underlying issues that cause you to spend unconsciously and leave you unfortunately in debt. These underlying issues often cause people to easily spend beyond their means and leave them in a life filled with financial stress and relationship stress.
By addressing both the underlying issues and the mechanics of where your money is actually going you will develop a greater satisfaction with life, better control over your money and significantly less stress.
CASE STUDY
While working with a Money Issues Counselor Ian had goals of getting out of debt and saving to purchase his first home. In reviewing his spending plan his Counselor pointed out that Ian was spending approximately £250 a month on computer games; this adds up to £3,000 a year! Ian had no idea he was spending that much on games and once this was identified he was able to immediatly cut back on his spending but also address why he felt that the purchase of games filled a need in his life.
Ian discovered that the experience of computer game shopping was one that he enjoyed because it was so different from his regular life as an executive director and it provide much needed relaxation.
