Bankruptcy & Starting a new business

Question: I am about to start acquiring the skills and training i would need to start a debt collection/recovery agency on my own. I will be a discharged bankrupt 25 feb 09 (unless they extend it). My question is can i (once discharged) own my own debt recovery agency?? I have looked everywhere on the net but have found no conclusive information. I have also looked at licences i will need to hold in order to carry out my job but they do not say whether or not i can hold one (being a discharged bankrupt)

Answer:  In most instances once a bankruptcy is discharged you can open your own business and be self-employed.  As for the licencing aspect I cannot say as that varies from industry to industry. You may want to directly contact who would be issuing the licence to query this.
