After months of agonising I, reluctantly, went to the court office to obtain the bankruptcy application forms. \no problem but would need to find the fees... Applied for a hearing and a week later paid the fee, swore the affidavit and saw a very pleasant judge who dealt with my case in less than 3 minutes. Visited the OR's office and expected a headmasterish interview. Instead I saw an equally pleasant 'examiner' then realised the worst was over. My name was in the paper but nobody phoned - they would get the answering machine anyway.
My advice is to:
1) obtain a telephone answering machine and do NOT respond to the many persistant calls. as the caller will only want to talk you into an arrangement you will not be maintaining.
2) WRITE to each creditor ONCE ONLY, by recorded delivery post and keep the receipts. Ignore further threats and demands as the OR will be writing to all your declared creditors.
3) Obtain a Cashplus debit card.
I cannot believe how relatively simple it all was. Wish I had done it sooner....
