Just to let you know that i am a self employed carpenter and have carried on with my business despite my bankrupsy on the 25th of september. The only thing i am having problem with is setting up a business account now i am bankrupt. (They dont want my money for some reason) Just to reassure you They cannot take away your means to earn money and this includes your husbands driving instructor business. there is a limit to what he can earn before they impose an attachment to earnings type scenario but you should be fine. I have kept my server, computer, fax machine, mobile phone, broadband, home phone and van etc!!! as i need them to run my business. The hope is that you will learn to manage your money better in the future, not take away everything you have and leave you with nothing. At the bankrupsy hearing you will hand your petition to the clerk with your £500 and he/she will take this to the Judge. The judge may want to ask a couple of questions or he might not (in my case). Then you are bankrupt. (Nothing to get worried about) Keep your chin up and let me know if you have any worries about next week.
P.S. Yes he will have to trade with the same name. I used to be say Turbochippy T/A such and such Carpentry but now i can change to Turbochippy T/A New Carpentry.
