serious problem

Postby jarvo on 18 Jul 2008, 12:39

hi could anyone please give me advice as i think i have made a serious mistake concerning my iva. i entered into iva june 2007 paying 100 pounds a week on 30k debt over 5 years. i was a tennant of a pub but the way trade had deteriated we struggled to make payments so we decided to buy a bar in spain after weighing up the pros and cons we thought we would be able to pay iva a lot easier.unfortunatley i lost 8500 on sale of the pub and nearly 3000 when transfering money to spain and so had to borrow 12000 from family to help with purchase of the bar.the day before we left for spain i received aletter from a company called the iva council stating they thought i had been missold my iva they put me in touch with a company called bankcrupcy uk wwho told me to stop making payments on my iva and to fill in forms they would send to spain and that they would get me free of debt in a one year period without affecting the bar in spain.anyway after numerous phone calls and not receiving any paper work i looked up iva counil yesterday on the net and saw lots of stories of people stating they were basically a con. i kmow dont know what to do i have missed 12 payments i dont want to be declred bankcrupt as idont want to lose our bar especially as i owe money to relatives.also the bar isnt making enough money to make iva payments due to world economic crisis spain is going through worst stage for decades.if i got a job as well as the bar i could probably keep up payments but how do i make up for missed payments?also my brother is selling his house and said he could give 10k to 12k and maybe i could offer a one off payment to cover the lot and clear iva.does any out there know of any solutions please

 The trail of misery and havoc left behind by this shower of crooks and bandits is terrible. IVAs were made for people in your position. If you still have their letter, complain to the Office of Fair Trading. You might not think anything has happened, but they can't do anything unless they get the complaints to start off with, and a number of complaints might make them take notice of these con men and take up someone else's complaint, even if not yours.

It would be best to speak to preferably the supervisor of your IVA, or otherwise perhaps Myvesta to try and sort out the mess you are left with.

Hope everything turns out well.
